About the Item

Una Lekuze originally intended to study law in China, learned Chinese, excellent English, studied Japanese for one year at the University of Latvia, but continued her further education at the Art Academy (from 2011) and is currently a student at the Painting Department of the Art Academy of Latvia. Alongside her studies at the Academy, she is also studying in the art studio of Kārlis Dobrāys. She works in oil. She creates figurative compositions, portraits, nude figures, still lifes, landscapes. She has studied human plastic anatomy in particular, and has mastered it to an excellent degree. In her drawings she uses a wide variety of techniques, pencil, ink - pen on paper and fabric, charcoal, monotype, etching, lithography. Her first solo exhibition took place in 2012 at the "Taka" café. Major exhibitions: Big Summer Exhibitions in Jēkabpils at Gallery Manss in 2011 and 2014. In 2013 at Monaro Gallery. Drawings exhibition at Jūrmala Museum in 2013. Solo exhibition "Paintings" at gallery "Bitvīns" in 2014. Highlights: "Hairdresser" (2014), "Self-portrait in Winter" (2014), "Freiberg Family Portrait" (2014), "Self-portrait with Caryatids" (2013), "Drawing" (2013), "Alexander Heights" (2012), "Round Nude" (2012). The works are in private collections in Latvia, the Netherlands and Sweden.
