French painter post-impressionist
still life with flowers, oil on canvas 120x90 cm.
Provenance: Parisian private collection
The proposed painting represents a proud example of French post-impressionist painting, the pure and bright colors, are mixed with violence on the canvas. The brush strokes leave deep grooves and in some passages you notice the presence of the spatula, used as a brush to engrave more matter. On the top left, vibrant splashes of painting turn into leaves and petals of roses, while the curtain, which stands out in the background, is rendered with incredible synthetic and disdainful brushstrokes.
The painter seems to recall the last period of Vincent van Gogh, who as in "Wheat field with flight of crows", uses color and its own materiality as a metaphor of his own soul.
