Victorian Still Life with Flowers and Fauna a Small Oil Painting, one of a pair. Beautiful and highly detailed small Oil on Canvas, mounted on Stretchers and housed in a period style frame. Delicately painted primroses amidst the foliage.

Birmingham painter of fruit and flower subjects, son of George Clare and brother of Oliver Clare.
Vincent spent almost all his life in Southgate, London though he exhibited his work at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool between 1888 and 1897.
Vincent appeared to sell the majority of his work through his friend and dealer Alfred Perrin who had a gallery in Northampton. It is assumed that he will have also exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists alongside his father and brothe.
With delicate expertise he evokes the fall of gentle light on the simplest of compositions and depicts colour and structure with a rare and admirable depth. It is easy to see why Oliver, along with other members of the Clare family, are so avidly collected.
Vincent Clare has paintings in numerous public collections.

Vincent Clare
Vincent Clare was a painter of fruit and flower subjects. He was born on December 13, 1855, in Birmingham. He was the son of George Clare and brother of Oliver Clare, who were also painters. Clare lived for most of his life in Southgate, London, although he was known to have exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool between 1888 and 1897. Of all the still life subjects Clare painted, his flower compositions are recognized as his strong point. Clare died in London in 1925.
