About the Item
Painted circa 1965 by Virginia Sevier Rogers (American, 1916-2015), a listed artist. Stamped verso with certification of authenticity.
A vibrant oil still-life of daffodils and an iris informally arranged in a blue vase standing beside a bowl of fruit. Born in Fort Collins, Colorado., Virginia Sevier Rogers first studied with Hugh Breckenridge at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts (1934), subsequently earning her B.A from the University of North Carolina and an M.A. at UC Berkeley. A member Society of Western Artists and of Artists Equity, she was an active member of California's Carmel Art Association and taught art for many years on her farm in the Carmel Valley.

Virginia Sevier Rogers
Virginia Sevier Rogers studied with Hugh Breckenridge at the PAFA in 1934 and then earned a BA degree from the University of North Carolina and her MA at UC Berkeley. From the early 1940s, she was the wife of a naval officer and living in Shanghai and other places. Rogers returned to Berkeley in 1950 and had an active art career. In 1971, she moved to the Monterey Peninsula and purchased a farm on Carmel Valley Road. At her studio, Rogers taught small classes and produced paintings, batik, pottery, sculpture and a line of note cards on handmade paper.
