Gladiolus. Flower impressionist oil painting, Framed. Original by Simon Kozhin
By Simon Kozhin
Located in Zofingen, AG
In crafting this piece, I channeled my reverence for nature’s elegance into each stroke. The interplay of impressionism and realism breathes life into the oil medium, capturing the delicate essence of the bloom. It's a spirited dance of texture and light, meant to evoke a sense of tranquility and contemplation in any space it inhabits. Through these blossoms, I share with you a moment of serene beauty, forever preserved in vibrant hues and dynamic contrasts. A flower with a beautiful structure, delicate color and plastic forms. The very perfection of nature. This creation can be admired endlessly.

Joseph Barrett (1936 – )
Joseph Barrett was born in Midland, North Carolina, in 1936 and studied at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. Barrett, now of Lahaska, Pennsylvania, has been painting his entire adult life. His favorite subjects include the landscape surrounding New Hope and many local landmarks often encompassing figures into his compositions. Barrett utilizes a heavy impasto and his palette bears similarities to that of Fern Coppedge and George Sotter. Barrett’s paintings are always found in unique and somewhat charming handmade frames designed by the artist and finished in metal leaf.
A living contemporary of the no longer living “New Hope School” impressionist painters, Joseph Barrett resides outside of New Hope above his old-fashioned antique shop and studio. Entering Barrett’s shop is like taking a step back in time. Inside this cluttered and dusty haven of treasures from the past, is a studio spanning only four by eight feet. This little studio, containing cans of old brushes and hundreds of used paint tubes...

Snowy Blue Jay
By Marion Buricatu
Located in Boston, MA
Artist Commentary:
I have been asked numerous times by my loyal customers to create more holiday winter cards of my paintings. As I was looking outside my window in this month of March, the snowy scenes in front of me were an ideal inspiration for me. And to make things even better for my creative juices, Paris had just been covered a few weeks before by a couple inches of snow. This happens very rarely and the whole city was paralysed. Parisians were unhappy, as always, but Paris under the snow is magnificent. I asked my good parisian friend to share with me the pictures she took of Paris under the snow. Between the winter view from my window and my friend’s pictures, I had enough material to immerse myself into this project. In 3 weeks, I created 8 paintings and I had the best time of my life!!! I wish I could do that all the time. I painted holiday lights, ornaments, some snow, and I even had an american cardinal in snowy Paris!!! I felt right at home between my 2 countries: France and the US! What wintery scenes or holiday scenes do you find magnificent?
Words that describe this piece: snow, tree, blue jay...
