Yvonne Melchers"Camellias from my Garden II" – Floral Oil Painting in Glass Vase Still Life2023
2023
About the Item
Yvonne Melchers’s "Camellias from my Garden II" is a refined small-scale still life that captures the fleeting beauty of two camellia blossoms delicately arranged in a clear glass pitcher. This 2023 oil on panel painting measures 5.5 x 5.5 inches and is framed to a finished size of 6.9 x 6.9 inches. The piece is a testament to Melchers’s ability to render lifelike textures and subtle tonal transitions, particularly in the interplay of light across translucent petals and reflective glass.
Painted from life using fresh camellias from the artist’s own garden, the work invites the viewer into an intimate moment of observation. The pale pink blossoms are carefully balanced in a small vessel of water, where their cut stems subtly distort through the curved surface of the glass. The background is minimalist and softly hued, placing full emphasis on the floral subject without distraction.
This original oil painting is unframed but presented in a clean, white tray frame, ready to hang. Ideal for collectors who appreciate botanical precision and quiet elegance, Melchers’s work reflects a classical still life tradition with a contemporary sensibility.
All of Yvonne Melchers’s paintings are one of a kind, executed with meticulous attention to detail using traditional oil techniques. Her floral still lifes are highly sought after for their calm presence and refined execution.

Yvonne Melchers
Dutch painter Yvonne Melchers, born in 1948, works from Amsterdam creating figurative oil paintings that explore themes of place, identity, and historical connection. Her artistic output organizes into distinct series: coastal views of the Dutch North Sea, Italian geographic and urban subjects, portrait studies of modern Italian men and boys wearing historical Siena Palio ceremonial dress, and architectural interior compositions titled Rooms with a View. Melchers supplements these primary works with still life paintings of botanical and fruit subjects, along with commissioned portraiture. Her technical approach emphasizes color relationships developed through Claude Monet's constrained palette methodology, producing vibrant results within deliberate limitations. International exhibitions include venues in Italy, Spain, and the United States, with concentrated activity in Dutch cultural institutions, galleries, and art fairs, particularly Museum Møhlmann. She is represented by select galleries across the United States including Abend Gallery. Her paintings reside in collections worldwide, including institutional holdings at Academic Medical Center Amsterdam.

"Slow Rise, " Oil Painting
By Eric G. Thompson
Located in Denver, CO
Eric G. Thompson's "Slow Rise" is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts a red clay teacup steaming with warmth with a cast shadow on the silver background.
About the Artist:
Eric G. Thompson captures stillness. He captures moments. Whether he is painting in oil, egg tempera or watercolor, he is seeking to evoke a haunting memory, a lost feeling. In a fast-paced world of deadlines, obligations and busyness, Eric invites you into the peace that he has enveloped within this momentary glimpse in time. Believing that we all seek silence, without even realizing it, he implores you to dwell on something you otherwise would have overlooked, or have long-forgotten. Literally and figuratively, he sheds light into the attics of our lives, even if it is just to awaken a feeling buried deep within the viewer.
A major influence on Eric’s work is the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, an appreciation of imperfection, age and patina, often referred to as “flawed beauty.” Balance and light are also key elements found in every painting he creates. Like the characters of the objects, figures and houses Eric paints, his technique has been refined through life experience. He is completely self-taught, and believes this process has led him to find a unique voice and vision, through perseverance, trial and error. A painter since 1989, Eric now resides in Salt Lake City, Utah and has been selling his work professionally since 2002. He paints from his travels and the treasures discovered along the way, and he chooses his medium based on the mood he wishes to convey.
Eric will continue to paint, evoking our memories, shedding light on the beauty and solitude of ordinary moments once forgotten, now glorified before us in fluid brushstrokes. Eric seeks to find greatness in the most humble of subject matter, illustrated by Elbert...
