Yvonne Melchers
"Last Rose Buds From My Garden" – Oil Still Life Painting With Glass Vase

2023

About the Item

Yvonne Melchers’ Last Rose Buds From My Garden is a finely rendered oil still life painting that captures the delicate transition of nature’s final blossoms. Measuring 5.5 x 5.5 inches and painted on panel, the composition presents two blushing rose buds nestled in a clear glass bottle. Their stems cross at the neck of the vase, casting twin shadows across a soft, muted background. The artist’s refined technique emphasizes both the clarity of the glass and the fragile texture of the petals, offering a quiet moment of reflection and serenity. This original oil painting stands out for its intimate scale and compositional balance. The simple white frame (bringing the total size to 6.9 x 6.9 inches) enhances the piece’s clean elegance, making it ideal for collectors of contemporary realism or floral still lifes. Each brushstroke speaks to Melchers’ sensitivity to light and form, capturing both the visual and emotional essence of ephemeral beauty. The artwork is signed with the artist's initials in the lower left. It is framed and ready to hang. This piece would complement a wide range of interiors, from minimalist modern spaces to more traditional decors. As with all of Melchers’ works, the precision and poise of her technique make this a compelling addition to any fine art collection.

"Slow Rise, " Oil Painting
By Eric G. Thompson
Located in Denver, CO
Eric G. Thompson's "Slow Rise" is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts a red clay teacup steaming with warmth with a cast shadow on the silver background. About the Artist: Eric G. Thompson captures stillness. He captures moments. Whether he is painting in oil, egg tempera or watercolor, he is seeking to evoke a haunting memory, a lost feeling. In a fast-paced world of deadlines, obligations and busyness, Eric invites you into the peace that he has enveloped within this momentary glimpse in time. Believing that we all seek silence, without even realizing it, he implores you to dwell on something you otherwise would have overlooked, or have long-forgotten. Literally and figuratively, he sheds light into the attics of our lives, even if it is just to awaken a feeling buried deep within the viewer. A major influence on Eric’s work is the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, an appreciation of imperfection, age and patina, often referred to as “flawed beauty.” Balance and light are also key elements found in every painting he creates. Like the characters of the objects, figures and houses Eric paints, his technique has been refined through life experience. He is completely self-taught, and believes this process has led him to find a unique voice and vision, through perseverance, trial and error. A painter since 1989, Eric now resides in Salt Lake City, Utah and has been selling his work professionally since 2002. He paints from his travels and the treasures discovered along the way, and he chooses his medium based on the mood he wishes to convey. Eric will continue to paint, evoking our memories, shedding light on the beauty and solitude of ordinary moments once forgotten, now glorified before us in fluid brushstrokes. Eric seeks to find greatness in the most humble of subject matter, illustrated by Elbert...

"Cream puff with strawberries" Dutch Fine Realist Painting of Still-Life Pastry
By René Smoorenburg
Located in Utrecht, NL
During his successful career as a goldsmith the desire to paint grew on Dutch artist René Smoorenburg (1954). The attention to detail, which was of great importance in his work as a goldsmith, proved of great value in painting his one of a kind still life’s. In "Cream puff with strawberries" the artist's attention to fine detail is traceable in the way he painted the sprinkle of powdered sugar, the lightness of the whipped cream, the shimmer on the strawberries and so on. All the fine details create an effect of trompe-l'oeil, the painting is deceptive realistic. His work stands in the long tradition of Dutch still life painting, originated in the seventeenth century, with its highly refined and meticulously executed depiction of reality. His work is in the spirit of many of those great works but retains its own distinctive style. Although René Smoorenburg works at a few paintings at the same time, the time it takes him to finish one individual painting amounts six months. Because of his very detailed style of painting, this time span is necessary to complete the work with a lot of patience and endurance. In contrast to the masters of the Golden Age, he chooses to emphasize the vulnerability, fragility and imperfection of everyday objects in his still life’s. According to René Smoorenburg, beauty is not perfection, but in the trace of the past and the evidence of enduring ravages of time. René Smoorenburg finds his sources of inspiration at antique fairs and markets: worn shoes...
