About the Item

The affiliation of two-dimensional objects and their three-dimensional projection is the main topic of Zipora Rafaelov’s relief-like pictures and installations. Common objects which are reduced to their basic features are the moulds that reoccur in all her works. Light and shade are a prominent issue in the realization of her figurative forms to space-consuming image-sculpture. The deliberate use of white and black reinforces the silhouette-like character of the objects which only gain their depth perception by light. The works of the artist converge to the traditions of paper cuts and shadow play, they offer a repertoire for stories.
