About the Item

Tullio Francesco DeSantis (born 1948), also known as Tullio, is an American contemporary artist, writer, technologist, and teacher. His work is informed by ancient and contemporary philosophy, science, and the relationship between art and life. Tullio DeSantis began his career as a conceptual artist/writer by creating his regular column titled MINDSTREAM, which appeared in the underground press periodical, The Rip Off Review of Western Culture, published by Rip Off Press in San Francisco in the early 1970s. In 1978, Tullio’s pieced-paper piece toured nationally with the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and in 1980 his work was exhibited by the NY Museum of Modern Art’s Art Lending exhibition, entitled “Maps”. During the 1980’s, Tullio received a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Grant for his collaborative work with Keith Haring. Additionally, he established working collaborations with Allen Ginsberg, LA II, and other writers, poets and artists. He began showing in New York in the 1980s, with his first solo NYC show at Tradition 3000 Gallery in the East Village. Tullio continues painting, drawing, sculpting, creating music, and video work at his farm in rural Pennsylvania.

Artist Terri Bell creates abstract incorporation of low-key colors punctuated through a grid of dark grey and black. A series of squares and spheres connect and form dynamic textural structures. An intricate and bold geometric balance takes form. The composition retains a certain harmony despite the random nature of the application.

About the Artist
Artist Terri Bell constructs highly detailed geometric fields that dance to life with engaging colors and soft edges. As a young child, Terri always wanted to paint, draw, or play imaginative games. She entered college as an art major and received important mentorship from several teachers. Unfortunately, it was at this point that Terri’s art career was put on hold. "I had to make a couple of detours along the way, and ended up changing my major to political science," she says, "which led me to work in a high stress, high profile state government position." Terri’s creative pursuits were more limited but ever-present. "Art was the balance in my life and I never gave up my dream." Through hard work and determination, she has returned to her calling as a full-time career artist. When she’s not painting, Terri enjoys cooking, container gardening, and spending time with her husband and two Yorkies.

Jeremy Hoffeld's work plays with ambiguity, and subverts the notion that one must choose between "abstraction and figuration, the new and the borrowed or even clichéd, the bright and the muddy, the natural/primordial and the synthetic/modern." For Hoffeld, "paintings, both abstract and figurative, have always been linked with music and literature. He aims to infuse his paintings with...improvisation, spontaneity, and energy." Hoffeld has had several solo shows since 2006 at galleries in New York including John Davis Gallery, Varga Gallery, Sky-Tree Gallery and Art Center, and the Catskills Gallery, as well as Galerie Hugo Cassel in Berlin and the Emily Harding Gallery...
