Camera Obscura Image of Manhattan View Looking West in Empty Room, 1996

This is a black-white image marked " For reproduction purposes only' with a label from @aberlardomorell.
Exposure is taken of light coming from a small hole. Ever heard of camera obscura? The picture on the wall is actually the view from the window. Because the window is covered and totally blacked.

Morell is well known in the photographic community for creating camera obscura images in various places around the world and photographing these. Morell was awarded the Cintas Foundation fellowship in 1992 and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship in 1993. Other awards he has received include the International Center of Photography’s Infinity Award in 2011.
In 1998 Morell was an artist-in-residence at Boston's Gardner Museum, and the following year, Boston's Museum of Fine Arts hosted his retrospective "Abelardo Morell and the Camera Eye".
Morell served as Professor Emeritus of Photography at the Massachusetts College of Art. Houk Gallery is his exclusive representation, with his first show with the gallery displayed in their Zürich, Switzerland location in June 2013.
The first retrospective of Morell's work in fifteen years was held at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013, in an exhibition entitled "Abelardo Morell: The Universe Next Door." It was subsequently held at the Getty Center in Los Angeles.

This image was captured on film (1981) The selected negative was printed on Baryta paper by the author and then limited digital reproduction printed later (2021) on fine art paper Photo Rag Baryta 310 gsm for highest age resistance using pigment inks which are known for their longevity.
In a text devoted to him, evoking these seemingly silent photos of Krichbaum, one critic used the term "din" to define the flow of thoughts and feelings that escaped from it. In this too quick glimpse of Paris, the artist creates a dialogue between the white glass balls of a hotel chandelier with two ostrich eggs in the window of a fashionable decorator, while the fashion models, scattered at will shops and seasons, endless stories are exchanged.
