Bernhard Lang depicts the fascinating ice formations found in lakes, rivers, and the Baltic Sea in this series. The rivers Pärnu, Lake Peipsi — which freeze over in the winter to create enormous ice expanses — are the primary subjects of the artist's photographs. The viewer is drawn in and the beauty of the winter landscapes in the Baltic region is emphasized by these eye-catching ice formations captured by Lang. Images of ice floes broken by ships on the Pärnu River are also featured in the series.
Since 2010, Bernhard Lang dedicates himself to aerial photography, travelling around the world and looking for singular landscapes impacted by human activities. From the sky, these views almost look like abstract paintings.

Bernhard Lang
Since 2010, Bernhard Lang has been doing aerial photography. He has travelled the world in search of landscapes strongly scarred by man’s imprint, which he photographs from aerial viewpoints using a ultra-light plane or a helicopter. Seen from the sky, these panoramas look almost like abstract paintings. Firmly in the field of contemporary art, his work seeks to incite thoughts on the environment whilst also giving aesthetic pleasure. Over the last ten years, his work has been recompensed by different international awards. “The aerial views show the world out of a different, uncommon perspective. [...] Also, you see the influence, the impact of the humans on the world. That’s what I’d like to show.’’
