About the Item
BIO Christopher Pulitzer Leidy
In this fast moving world photographer Chris Leidy has found his inspiration within the depths of global oceans. Under water, Chris captures a vision – a flash in time – through his lens. In singular action, amidst mass movement, he captures the complexity of being still in the moment; his art is not just a metaphor for life – it is his life.
Christopher P. Leidy is the great, great grandson of Joseph Pulitzer, the Hungarian born American newspaper publisher who established in 1917 the Pulitzer Prizes. He is the grandson of re-knowned designer Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau. Chris has steadily established his own legacy as the foremost underwater artist producing images of rare beauty.
His work is featured in notable publications in The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, Conde Nast Traveler, Forbes, and many international publications. He goes to diverse, exotic places such as Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Micronesia, Vanuatu, the Cocos Islands, and most recently Sumatra, Tonga, and the Solomon Islands. He throws away guidebooks opting instead to immerse himself in different cultures, comprehending and capturing an image as his vernacular. His month in each locale often in extreme, austere living conditions is shorthand for what his camera captures.
Conquering fear, he goes in the deep-seas and dives there, finding his own solace in the ocean. In mysterious and unpredictable depths in landscapes with extraordinary creatures, he takes his photographs. Leidy has attracted the attention of serious art collectors, ocean enthusiasts, and environmentalists.

Chris Leidy
Growing up in Palm Beach, as the grandson of iconic fashion designer Lily Pulitzer, Christopher lived a beach lifestyle and spent all of his time on or in the water. Christopher fearlessly explored the underwater caves and experienced the beauty of nature that most of us never get to see. His artistic eye and love of the underwater world compelled him to pursue a career in underwater cinematography and photography. After graduating from Full Sail Film Institute in December of 2001 with a degree in cinematography, Christopher moved to Los Angeles and New York to work on 3 full length feature films, TV commercials and two television series. His appetite for observing and capturing the underwater world was not nearly sated. He returned to Florida and the Bahamas and worked for a stock photography company. His portfolio of photographs caught the eye of Television Producers who hired him as the executive videographer for a series called “Reel Adventures”. Steady employment wearing a wet suit all day still was not enough to hold him down in one place and he left to pursue his dream of becoming a recognized photographer of underwater images. His first solo show in September 2008 was a sellout. The public’s affirmation was his welcome into the art world. Christopher Pulitzer Leidy’s talent deserves the recognition he has won as one of today’s best underwater photographers.

ABOUT: The beauty of Tina West’s latest show lies in the maturity and wonder of her still lives. For every photo, West stages her scene with unique treasures from her vast collection. Allowing them to speak to her, rather than the opposite, each object is chosen not because of an image West is trying to recreate from her mind, but because of each object’s sheer attraction. The sharp subconscious connection West feels to her still life objects comes across strongly. This produces a magical end product that has both transformed and repurposed the photographed objects entirely. Though still lives are considered a classic image, West exemplifies a charming, experimental take that pushes the boundaries of the historical still life. The invitational image, entitled “Constraint Inspires Creativity,” embodies the breadth of her work in capturing a warm rich okra-gold “Do Not...Category
