The second in a series of images about the extravagant luxury in China. Nanjing Road is one of the most expensive shopping boulevards in the country. In the luxury malls, symbols of wealth and elegance are celebrated with self-assurance. They permeate the life-style of modern Shanghai. In cryptic structures, people stride through the fragrant, new world; become one with it. Whether as consumer, pleasure-seeker, prisoner, victim or helpless observer. – The motifs for this composition were taken by the artist during several different excursions through Shanghai in 2016.
