About the Item
One-of-a-kind silver gelatin print - photogram made without the use of a camera. Handmade, black and white darkroom print. Mixed process multiple exposure (done partially underwater) with flowers and glitter. Exposed via sparkler. (YES you read that right;)) From my award-winning "Into the Ether" series.
I began making photograms with alternate light sources in June 2020, due to having an unfinished darkroom at the time of the shutdown; Within a matter of around 2 weeks, my first (small) alt process series was born and completed - and "Into the Ether" began in July and was completed by the end of the year. This is quite a large series, and some of my favorite prints have already sold (not to worry, quite a few of my favorites are currently available).
All of my images are essentially subconscious self-portraits, which reveal themselves during my printing process(es). At this point into the pandemic, I felt as if I were living in an (extremely isolated) alternative reality at the time. I've since grown to appreciate how much I grew (as an artist) during the making of this series - which was the first of my photogram bodies of work to receive awards, and also was responsible for my first alt process classes.
