About the Item

This one-of-a-kind handmade darkroom print was made without the use of a camera - with sand, flowers, glitter, and water, in November 2021. All of my images are about more than what might be obvious at first glance. These "equivalent" images might seem abstract at first, but they are actually quite spiritual in nature - and from my ongoing (multi-award-winning) "Metamorphosis" series. This series is about both my metamorphosis in terms of the complexity of my self-invented processes, as well as my personal metamorphosis, from getting my darkroom back during covid, to my growth as an artist, who is actually still primarily in isolation right now (due to a covid-born business, which only became possible due to having a darkroom in my apartment and a lot of good photo karma). The series commenced in early '21 and is still ongoing. I began making photograms with alternate light sources in June 2020, due to having an unfinished darkroom at the time. This darkroom was only half set up in March 2022, but I couldn't wait a moment longer to resume printing after losing my prior home darkroom to rent hikes 3 years before covid. Within a week of experimenting, my first alt process series was born; I am now fairly well-known for both my photograms, as well as my processes, which I currently teach.
