About the Item
Three Gulls sit atop a colorful pink and white beach house near East Hampton. The lead gull is captured with his wings spread and poised to take flight. The picture evokes the summer pleasures of at the beach. The composition is representation and abstract at the same time. There is a graphic dialog between the pyramidal shape of the pink roof and the inverted pyramid shape of the lead bird. The flat wide areas of the color of the roof and sky are punctuated by the icon shapes of the three birds. Signed, numbered 2/15 and dated lower right recto, other sizes available, unframed, printed later. This work is printed on fine art Hahnemuhle paper. The color will vary from monitor to monitor.
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum.
