About the Item
Pink Flamingos are social animals. They gather in large groups and chat it up. Their gregarious natures is a benefit for photographers. Individually the bird is a living sculpture. As a group, they offer even greater opportunities for visual enjoyment. Mitchell Funk captures a flock of Flamingos set against a colorful background in this work. The image was shot with a long lens to throw the background out of focus and enhance the graphic nature of the leggy and necky birds.

Mitchell Funk participated in the first color photography show at any major American Museum. "Images en Couleur " Brooklyn Museum 1970. In the 1970's and 1980 he had more than 50 photography magazine covers. He did covers for Life Magazine and Fortune Magazine as well

Mitchell Funk
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
