About the Item

Veteran street photographer Mitchell Funk creates an arresting image composed of contrasting elements. A common New York City street light morphs into a haunting abstraction while the bridge to its immediate left is clear and sharp. The red street light stares down the viewer as it uncomfortably pushes forward into the viewer's space. On the other hand, the bridge appears to be running away as recedes into the distant zone. The right side of the image is hot red and yellow while the left is a cool blue. A dynamic dialog between the two elements fuels a tense composition of urban elements. It's a straight shot done on location without any photoshop manipulation. Signed dated and numbered 3/15 lower right recto, other sizes available, unframed, printed later. This work is printed on fine art Hahnemuhle paper. The color will vary from monitor to monitor. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur" . 1971 Included he was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time-Life. Color ! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum. He has had more than 50 Photography Magazine Covers and has had covers on Newsweek, Fortune, New York Magazine and Life Magazine among others.
