Born in 1946 in Greensburg (Pennsylvania), Bruce Weber studied theater at Denison University in Ohio then turned to filmmaking at New York University, working also as a model to support himself. Through this experience as a model, he approached and aroused his interest in photography, and thanks to Diane Arbus he studied with Lisette Model at the New School for Social Research in the 1960s.
In the late 1970s, Weber began photographing ads and commercials for Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Gianni Versace, Estèe Lauder and Elizabeth Arden, between others. His photo appeared in Vanity Fair, Vogue, GQ, Elle, Life, Rolling Stone, among many others.
Definitely one of the best-known and famous photographer, his works are in the collections of several museums including the London’s Victoria and Albert Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. Weber also has exhibited at venues including the 1987 Whitney Biennial in New York City, Musee de l’Elysee in Lausanne (Switzerland), palazzo Fortuny in Venice, the Florence Biennale, the National Portrait Gallery in London, the Parco Exposure Gallery in Tokyo, Fahey/Klein in Los Angeles, Galleria Corso Como in Milan, and the Russel Senate Building in Washington, DC.

In this modern picture in black and white, Bruce Weber immortalized Jon Clammer in Martha’s Vineyard Island. The model is shot from behind while he is looking at the sea. He wears an overall that leaves nude his back and shoulders.
