About the Item
Black and white Print by Erich Andres, ca 1960.
Niagara Falls, Canada, 1960s, daytime view of a tourist observing the falls from an elevated vantage point. The photograph captures the iconic Horseshoe Falls in the background, with mist rising from the powerful waterfall. In the foreground, a man in a white shirt and cap uses binoculars to take in the view, highlighting the popularity of Niagara Falls as a tourist destination during this period. The surrounding area is filled with parked cars and visitors, emphasizing the attraction's draw to large crowds even in the mid-20th century. The image is presented in black and white, enhancing its timeless quality. Andres was born 1905 in Germany and passed away 1992. He started his career as a photographer in 1920. He was one of the first photographers, who used a Leica. His images today are displayed in several museums, for example in the Civil War Museum in Salamanca, Spain, the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Industrial Museum in Oberhausen, Germany. Andres was a contributor for Edward Steichens Exhibition "The family of man" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1951.
The print is new, a Fine Art Print on high quality paper (Hahnemühle) made by Whitewall. It comes to you in a tube.
