About the Item
Ed. 14/27, includes black frame with white mat. Embossed on the recto. Estate-stamped, titled, numbered, and signed on the verso by R. J. Horst, executor of the Hoyningen-Huene Estate.
Known for his masterfully composed images that captured the styles of the leading haute couture houses of the 1920s-30s including Chanel, Balenciaga, Lanvin, Vionnet, Schiaparelli, and Lelong, among others, George Hoyningen-Huene was a pioneer for fashion photography whose work continues to hold deep relevance today.
"Divers" is among Hoyningen-Huene's most celebrated works, and was hand-selected by Anna Wintour in 2012 as one of her all-time favorite Vogue images from the magazine's history.
