Karen Epstein
Monocle I, Black and white fashion photo of model in jeweled monocle

2019

About the Item

Monocle I, Black and white fashion photo of model in jeweled monocle Edition of 5 + 2AP Signed on verso. Karen Epstein is a fashion photographer exploring the shadow world beneath the clothes. She probes themes of feminism, exploitation, self awareness and alienation in her work. Her portraits of women for whom appearance is a means to make a living are often surreal and slightly unsettling, placing them in ambivalent contexts open to the viewer to guess the narrative or weave their own. Her landscapes are studies in empty spaces filled with longing; sometimes a sense of impending foreboding. Karen’s work has been published in Dreamingless, Ladygunn, Miami Living, Boyfriend, Time Out New York, Blink and Bust Magazines. Her commercial clients include McDonalds, Moxy Hotels, NY Times, Skii, Sprayground and Solstice Sunglasses.
