About the Item

Sell your soul! Exclusive set photography of the film version of Goethe's Faust, Gustaf Gründgens as Mephisto, 1960. Gustaf Gründgens had already played Mephisto more than 600 times before, as artistic director of the Hamburg Schauspielhaus, he staged Faust again in 1957, taking the stage in his favorite role. This production proved to be a complete success and became internationally famous with guest performances in Russia and America. Ilse Kubaschewski, owner of Gloria-Film GmbH & Co. Filmverleih KG, made persistent and successful efforts to overcome Gründgens' resistance to a film adaptation. Gründgens was able to push through his ideas for the film version: "The task of this film version must be," Gründgens said, "to find the exact middle ground between filmed theater and pure film.oduction a renunciation of any kind of mysticism and blurriness; this goal must not be falsified at the expense of beautiful images. (Wikipedia) This artwork is printed on Classic baryta paper in combination with state-of-the-art laser exposure provides the best conditions for your black-and-white photo. Developed in 1866, the processing of baryta papers is very elaborate and old-fashioned in the best sense of the word: The long soaking process for photo paper without PE coating and subsequent drying can result in slight deviations in the millimeter range. Highly regarded by photo experts, baryta paper has a glossy surface with a silky sheen. Brilliant white is excellently combined with rich black tones. With 315g/m² your photo is particularly stable.
