SIMON PROCTER
Simon Procter was born in 1968 in Lancashire, Northern England. He studied fine art for many years, originally focusing on both painting and sculpture, and holds a B.A. Honors degree in Fine Art from Trent University, United Kingdom. Procter moved to Paris in the late ‘90s and, while doing a variety of odd jobs in the city, met one of the associates at Visionaire. Thereafter, Procter took up photography and used his unique fine art aesthetic to develop a photographic technique that captures and documents the grand scale of fashion shows and the architectural spaces in which they take place. This synthesis of fashion photography and classical painting distinguishes Procter’s work. His first fashion photography endeavor was shooting a Dior show from 100 feet above the runway. The resulting images were published in two major stories in “V Magazine” and exhibited at Colette, with a sponsorship by both Armani and Prada. He has since produced works for Adidas Y-3, L’Oréal Paris, Christian Dior, Armani, Chanel, and Stella McCartney among others. His photography has been featured in numerous publications including “Vogue Nippon,” “Harper’s Bazaar” and “The New York Times” and has been exhibited in Paris’ Grand Palais, the Moscow Museum of Art and The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. It was also the subject of a coffee-table book, “Lagerfeld: The Chanel Shows,” published by Rizzoli in 2019.

"Sid Vicious Arrest" black and white photograph by Allan Tannenbaum. Image size: 9 x 13 inches. The text to the right of the photo reads: "Sid Vicious New York City 1978. At about 11 a.m. on October 12, 1978, the desk clerk at the Chelsea Hotel in New York City received a call from outside the hotel. A man, who did not identify himself, told the clerk, 'There's trouble in room 100.' The desk clerk called for an ambulance which arrived with a police escort. After the paramedics confirmed the woman was dead, police checked the room and found drugs and drug paraphernalia as well as a blood-stained Jaguar K-11 folding knife with a five-inch blade and a black jaguar carved into the handle. The couple had registered as Mr. and Mrs. John Ritchie, though they were not married. Simon John Ritchie was the man's real name, better known as Sid Vicious, punk superstar and former bass player for the infamous British band, The Sex Pistols. His deceased companion's name was Nancy Spungen. 'I stabbed her, but I didn't mean to kill her!' He was also heard muttering through his tears, 'She must have fallen...

David Bowie poses with a large barking dog for the artwork of his 1974 album Diamond Dogs in London.
From the start of the 1960s and continuing until the present day the name of Terry O'Neill has become inextricably connected with some of the most interesting takes on photographic portraits of celebrities. From the Beatles and Rolling Stones in the 1960s to the Royal Family and the Prime Minister's family in more recent times Terry O'Neill has proved adept at recording the significant subjects of the day in a visually stimulating and sometimes unexpected way and thus illuminated history of our age.
Terry O'Neill was born on 30 July 1938 in the East End of London. His career as a photographer evolved by chance out of his first ambition to become a jazz drummer. Leaving school at fourteen and then doing his National Service his ambition was to go to America to study with the great drummers there. He thought that the best way to travel frequently and inexpensively to the USA would be to get a job as an air steward for BOAC. The airline at that time had no vacancies for stewards but suggested he took a vacancy in their technical photographic unit, which he combined with time at an art school and he then became interested in photojournalism.
At first, O'Neill worked as freelance at London Airport, later was offered a stunt as a reportage photographer at Heathrow. This was followed by three years in Fleet Street, with O'Neill at 21, the youngest photographer in Fleet Street taking pop pictures for the up-tempo Daily Sketch.
One thing lead to another and O'Neill quickly became a significant image-maker and one of the group of talented young photographers who helped create the photographic icons of the 1960s and create part of the buzz that became Swinging London. The peer group that emerged in this decade included David Bailey, Terence Donovan and Brian Duffy from the East End and Patrick Lichfield and Lewis Morley...
