A student of the outstanding photographer Konrad Pollesch He presented his works at dozens of individual painting and photographic exhibitions in Poland and abroad. From the history of painting periods, he fell in love with Impressionism, it became his guiding way in art. This can be seen in paintings and photographs. For many years of work, in the initial period of his adventure with art, while studying in St. Petersburg and Krakow, he specialized in copying the Impressionists and skillfully translated the essence of this direction in art also into his private workshop. This can be seen especially in recent works in the beloved technique of oil pastels. He is the author of, among others, numerous painting cycles presented to the public: "Trees" - black and white pastels, "Mariko" - acrylics full of energy, and the last one "Zychan" - pastels showing mysterious figures and their interiors full of energy and color. Photo exhibitions worth highlighting are: "Trees That Haven't Been Cut Down Yet", "Life of big cities" or the only such one in the world "European Gargoyles" among the photos from this exhibition, among others gargoyles from the Notre-Dame Cathedral. For much of his professional journey, he thrived as both a Commercial and Fine Art photographer eventually focusing on his personal artistic work during his final years. Towards the conclusion of his life's path, Ian and his partner revived two 19th-century printing methods in their studio - Platinum Palladium and Gum Bichromate - culminating in a significant retrospective exhibition in Barcelona sponsored by the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation. The Platinum and Palladium prints were particularly noteworthy as they were printed on transparent vellum paper with pure gold or silver bonded to the back, rendering each piece a unique and timeless work of art. Through their artisanal techniques, they created rare and personalized works. Ian Sanderson was one of the few artists worldwide specializing in this type of production. Now, Ian's partner continues their shared legacy, still creating Platinum Palladium prints as well as silver gelatin photographs.
