Reference:
The University Bridge is a bridge in Lyon, France, located on the Rhône River. It was built on the site of a former ferry to serve the university buildings erected between 1876 and 1898. When it was inaugurated in 1903, the structure was known as the Pont des Facultés, but it was soon renamed the Pont de l'Université. Its design is the work of engineers Jean Résal, Paul Hinnovait, and Ernest Fabrègue. The Société des Forges de Franche-Comté carried out the construction.
Damaged in 1944, a temporary wooden bridge was installed. The bridge was definitely reopened in 1947. The bridge is 267.50 m long and 20 m wide, and is composed of three metal arches cast in Longwy, resting on stone piles from Porcieu-Amblagnieu.
