About the Item
César Delgado (Spanish, b. Madrid, 1961) is a contemporary Spanish painter whose work draws upon the legacy of Spanish informalism, approaching the pictorial process through repetition, layering, and gestural abstraction. His paintings reveal a tension between organic suggestion and compositional control, resulting in a visual rhythm that balances density and structure.
Taxidermia 67 (2009) is an acrylic on canvas work that reflects Delgado’s deep engagement with texture, gesture, and chromatic modulation. The painting’s abstract surfaces evoke a sense of suspended movement, with traces of the artist’s process evident in each layered brushstroke.
Delgado was awarded the Artist in Residence Grant La Romana (Dominican Republic, 1989) and the Mojácar City Painting Grant (1992). He also received the Acquisition Prize at the VII Salón de Artes Plásticas de Alcobendas (1990) and the National Painting Contest of Alcorcón (1994). His work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions, including Galería MW, Madrid (1994) and Galería Valle Quintana, Madrid (1998), as well as in multiple group exhibitions throughout Spain and abroad.
