David Drebin
Running the Bridge

2014

About the Item

Color Landscape Photography by David Drebin. All prints are limited edition. Available in multiple sizes. High-end framing on request. All prints are done and signed by the artist. The collector receives an additional certificate of authenticity from the gallery. Drebin captures a dramatic scene where a person in a white dress is walking or dancing along the pedestrian walkway of the bridge. The San Francisco skyline is visible in the background, appearing as dark silhouettes of skyscrapers against a bright sky. The composition is quite striking, with strong geometric elements created by the bridge's vertical support cables framing both the figure and the cityscape. The lighting suggests this was taken in the early morning or late afternoon, creating long shadows and a cinematic quality to the scene. From New York, Miami, and Jerusalem to Istanbul, Berlin, and all the way to Tel Aviv – using his world-renowned communicative imagery and striking cinematic image composition, David Drebin puts his models into breathtaking metropolitan scenes. These urban panoramas, their format a conscious homage on the movies of Hollywood, create an almost endless realm of imagination for the visualized stories Drebin tells through his pictures. His photographs seem like movie stills, highly detailed and resounding with astonishing coloration, dramatic lighting, and palpable emotion. This very same power can also be found in his mystically epic shots of lonely beaches, rocky coastlines, and city parks. A Vision you can't Capture - 29 Palms, CA, analog, mounted
By Stefanie Schneider
Located in Morongo Valley, CA
A Vision you can't Capture (29 Palms, CA) - 2007 125x172cm, Edition 2/5, analog C-Print, hand-printed by the artist on Fuji Crystal Archive Paper, based on the Polaroid, signature label and certificate, artist inventory number: 4048. Mounted on Aluminum with matte UV-Protection. Schneider harnesses the unpredictable chemical mutations of expired Polaroid film, where bursts of color erupt across the surface, destabilizing the photograph's traditional allegiance to reality. These vivid distortions draw her characters into ethereal, trance-like dreamscapes. Like fleeting sequences from a vintage road movie, Schneider’s images shimmer with a transitory quality, dissolving before any definitive conclusions can be drawn. Their ephemeral essence is conveyed through subtle gestures and enigmatic motives. Refusing to yield to the constraints of reality, Schneider’s work keeps alive a delicate interplay of dream, desire, fact, and fiction, blurring the boundaries between them with poetic ambiguity. Stefanie Schneider’s work echoes the heart of American art, channeling the cinematic nostalgia of Ed Ruscha’s roadscapes, the stark sensuality of Georgia O’Keeffe’s deserts, and the haunting solitude of Edward Hopper...
