Jo Ann Callis is an American artist and photographer based in Los Angeles, California. Since emerging in the late 1970s as one of the first important practitioners of the "Fabricated Photographs" movement, Callis has also made significant contributions in the areas of sculpture, painting, and digital imagery. Callis' work has been published internationally, and exhibited at venues including the Museum of Modern Art, New York City; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and many others. Callis has also received three NEA Fellowships and a Guggenheim Fellowship, among other awards and prizes.
