About the Item

Where Are We Going?, 2004 Archival pigment print on heavy rag paper 40 x 63 inches Edition of 7+2AP A study of forms. Forms that are mechanical: cold engineering but designed with fluid dynamic grace. There is the surface, which has in many cases has decayed and begins to illustrate the underlying ethos and pathos with which the objects were formed... all a certain system of engineered supernaturalism. Zimmerman is impressed by is the staggering amount of systems and subsystems that we have created and the limitless variation that is developed in similar types of objects which invokes our impulse and desire to create and attempt to come to a better understanding of our creator. That somehow through ceaseless invention and innovation (i.e. creation) we will eventually attain our day of rest. Through his work he tries to inform himself with an understanding and contextualization of these systems by unlocking the inherent ethos, pathos, and empathy with which they were created. Zimmerman, born 1971, is a conceptual artist based in New York and received his MFA from Hunter College in 2012.

'Cicatrices 3' Large scale photo. Agave leaf, female tropical blue teal green
By Sophia Milligan
Located in Penzance, GB
'Cicatrices (3)' Limited edition archival photograph. Unframed, hand signed and numbered _________________ Scars of birthing in the unfolding leaf pattern of the giant graceful Agave. The sensual contradictions of silken flesh and the protective spines are a contemplation of motherhood's journey, the unfolding narrative impressed eternally upon the skin. Sophia's poetic photographs are an exploration of the balance in all things: in the sensual interplay of light and shadow; in wild raw energy and serene stillness; in joy and pain; in the enduring and the effervescent. They are a contemplation of the awareness that everything in existence is temporary, they speak of the ephemeral nature of all things. Moments, feelings, experiences cherished and appreciated in their impermanence, for that is where the beauty comes from. 'I work with time, and the immeasurable spaces of experience within... tangible traces, evidence left behind, records; process in action, stilled'. 40 x 60 inches Limited edition of 25 Archival Print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® paper, one of the most beautiful and high quality art papers available. The luxurious matt finish provides a reflection free image that is rich in detail, depth and tone. Hand signed, titled and numbered to the lower right corner on an approximately 1 inch white border. Each print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity featuring a signature and edition number. * Please note that images of the artwork in situ and framed are an indication of how the piece can look, and in the context of other artworks. The artwork is being sold unframed. ________________________________ About The Artist Sophia Milligan...
