In 1999, star photographer Michel Comte created a series of images with supermodel Gisele Bündchen in Cannes, France for Vogue Italia. The highly praised artworks are now part of fashion and fine art history and sought-after worldwide. Intimate moments of a young Gisele captured on camera in Comte's raw signature style.
The saturated colours of the broiling desert against the piercing blue of the clear sky or the cool palette of an intimate black-and-white portrait; Michel Comte can do it all. The Swiss star photographer has made his mark on fashion and celebrity photography ever since his first international advertising campaign for Karl Lagerfeld in 1979. Comte’s oeuvre truly is the work of an homme modern – capturing the most celebrated figures of the century from boxers to supermodels. However, despite the famous figures in front of this lens, Comte’s work is always about the human. His portraits, nudes, or fashion campaigns always come especially close to his subjects and create an intimate setting for the viewer.

Michel Comte
From humanitarian assignments in war-torn countries to photoshoots with some of the world’s most prominent people and brands, Michel Comte is a celebrated contemporary magazine and fashion photographer who has worked all over the globe.
Collaborating with the likes of Vogue Italia, l'Uomo Vogue, Vanity Fair and Interview didn’t happen instantly for Comte. Born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland, the photographer began his career in art restoration, working on pieces by Andy Warhol and Yves Klein until 1979, when he secured his first assignment from fashion industry legend Karl Lagerfeld for French luxury house Chloé. Later, Lagerfeld arranged for Comte to work with Chanel, and from there, the photographer built relationships with numerous brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Gianfranco Ferre, Ferrari, Hennessy, Hermès, Lancôme, Jaguar and more.
Comte worked on photoshoots with many celebrities and public figures such as Mike Tyson, Miles Davis, Sofia Coppola, Elijah Wood, Tina Turner and others.
While keeping busy with shoots, Comte also found time to set up his own humanitarian organization and established successful fundraising efforts with the International Red Cross that focused on supplying clean water to countries in need.
As a passionate mountain climber, Comte became intimately aware of global warming and has worked for decades to increase public awareness relating to climate change. Comte scaled mountains by air and foot to photograph the changes in ice caps — often returning to the same locations all over the world in order to document the disappearing ice.
Comte has exhibited internationally at institutions such as the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, the Kunst Haus Wien in Austria, the Verona Centro Internazionale di Fotografia and Munich Pinakothek der Moderne.

Nick Knight is among the world’s most influential and visionary photographers. He has worked on a range of often controversial issues during his career – from racism, disability, ageism, and more recently fat-ism. He continually challenges conventional ideals of beauty.
Knight made fashion history in November 1993 by adapting ring-flash photography to capture Linda Evangelista for a landmark, post-grunge cover of British Vogue. Since then, his work has graced no fewer than 36 covers. He has shot advertising campaigns for Jil Sander, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, Yves Saint Laurent, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Christian Dior to name a few. He has also shot record covers for David Bowie, Paul Weller, George Michael and Massive Attack.
Knight’s work has been exhibited at institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, Saatchi Gallery, The Photographers’ Gallery, the Hayward Gallery and recently the Tate Modern. Knight has also turned his hand to directing music videos - Pagean Poetry by Björk in 2001 being his first and, most recently, Kanye West’s Bound 2. He directed the video for Lady Gaga’s hit single Born This Way in 2011. Both the song and the video aimed to empower and show solidarity within minority groups, a common theme in Knight’s work.
