Captured in May 2025, this black-and-white photograph carries the quiet charm of a bygone era. Taken on a bridge that connects two cultural giants—the Musée d'Orsay on one side, the Louvre on the other—it places the viewer at the crossroads of art and history. Though the scene belongs to the present, the retro tones evoke a nostalgic echo of classic Paris. The absence of color draws attention to the textures, shadows, and soft light that define this timeless cityscape. It's Paris in its purest form—elegant, eternal, and deeply poetic.
This image is part of Natalya Mougenot’s series The Beauty of Simple, which celebrates ordinary scenes that reveal an emotional depth through their stillness and simplicity.
A painter by background, Mougenot brings a subtle, poetic sensibility to photography. Her work is contemplative, quiet, and deeply rooted in presence.
Shipping: Ships from France in flat protective packaging.
Artist Biography:
Natalya Mougenot is a painter whose artistic vision naturally extends into photography. Her work is guided by a deep appreciation for simplicity, authenticity, and the quiet beauty of everyday life.
She was born in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, and moved to France in 2003. Now based in Lyon, she draws inspiration from her surroundings as well as from her travels, which have offered countless opportunities to observe and capture subtle, fleeting moments — the kind that stay with us.
Her relationship with photography began at the age of 11, when she received her first Polaroid camera. Though not formally trained in photography, her intuitive and spontaneous approach brings a uniquely sensitive perspective. She does not seek to reinvent the world through her lens — rather, she embraces it as it is.
Before fully embracing painting in 2017, Natalya had already been passionate about photography for years. This deep connection with capturing life’s fleeting instants naturally informed and enriched her painterly practice. Her photographs often serve as visual notes — some evolving into paintings, others left untouched — all expressing stillness, presence, and a lived moment held gently in time.
Natalya says about her photography practice:
"I seek to capture the honest, unguarded moments of life — simple, timeless fragments that reveal the poetry in everyday existence. My photography, like my painting, embraces presence and authenticity, creating quiet visual stories that invite reflection and feeling."

Natalya Mougenot id a french artist living in France for more than 20 years. She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes. She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country. She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now. In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism, which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult. As an artist and as a woman she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion, is the pillar for the inner adult. Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference. She works rapidly and is constantly sensitive to the details. Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach. Natalya manipulates different mediums without a preconceived plan since she is guided by what she wants to express at the moment by embracing the quality of my materials. She does not deny that her artworks reflect her intuitive approach and her love for vibrant colors which represent her who she is. Natalya says she is never able to create the same piece more than once. Sometimes she paints from photos or images. Sometimes she paints from memory. She tells to herself : "Just be yourself when you create ".

Artist Biography: A Nebraska native, Mangelsen’s love of nature, his life outdoors and business success were heavily influenced by his father. An avid sportsman, Harold Mangelsen took his sons to favorite blinds along the Platte River in Nebraska to observe the great flocks of ducks, geese and cranes that migrate through the valley. From these adventures, Mangelsen learned important lessons for photographing in the field, most notably patience and understanding animal behavior. In 1965, Mangelsen began studying business at the University of Nebraska. In 1967, Tom transferred to Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, where he changed his major and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Tom continued postgraduate study in zoology and wildlife biology at the University of Nebraska and Colorado State University. In 1970 Mangelsen moved to Nederland, Colorado. He spent two years living in the Rocky Mountains in an old mining shack without electricity or running water with his English setter, black lab and raccoon. Tom continued to work on his photography and studied arctic alpine ecology at the University of Colorado’s Mountain Research Station near Nederland. There he met Bert Kempers, a CU film producer, who later hired Tom as cinematographer and film editor for his company Westwind Productions, making educational and nature documentaries. Tom longed to make a documentary about the Platte River and its great wildlife resource. He returned to the Platte each spring to film the great crane migration. These experiences led to Tom traveling to the cranes’ nesting grounds in Alaska and their wintering areas in Texas. National Geographic television wanted to produce a documentary, which would chronicle the plight of the endangered whooping crane...
