“I never remember the details of a Stefanie Schneider image, just the whole. She treads a third path between reality and dream that connects the two and truly sparks my artistic, visual freedom.” (Marc Forster)
This piece is part of Stefanie Schneider's Strange Love, a poignant substory within her 29 Palms, CA project. It delves into the lingering shadows of love—lost, unrequited, and impossible to forget. Love’s absence often leaves an indelible mark, much like the sensation of a ghost limb felt by an amputee—an ache with no real presence, yet profoundly felt. This work explores the nuances of memory, imagination, and the fleeting nature of human connection, capturing love as it was experienced by both the artist and her lover, as he saw himself and as he was perceived by others.
Strange Love is built around the complexities of a ménage à trois, intertwining real-time experiences with reflections on love, sexuality, communication, and perception. The narrative weaves in and out of reality, offering an ever-evolving reinterpretation that stands independently, yet remains rooted in the present.
The project parallels the 29 Palms, CA series, where fragments of memories, emotions, and visions collide, creating a multi-layered dialogue between past and present. The works, which include photographs, films, paintings, and text, form a collection of transient yet fixed moments—documents of a life lived and loved, where absence amplifies presence. The absence of someone can make their memory even more resonant, as it lingers, ever-present in the spaces they once filled.

Land & Sea VII (A)
By Colleen Fitzgerald
Located in Sante Fe, NM
Edition of 5
Colleen Fitzgerald's series, "Stamina," provides new approaches to conventional subjects by utilizing the materials and tools of photography in non-traditional ways. A unique physical process combines aspects of sculpture and photography, subverting the idealized two-dimensional photograph and providing a new entry point to the enduring photographic subjects of natural landscapes, seascapes, and more.
To create the photographs, unexposed large sheets of positive film are cut and bent into three dimensional shapes before being exposed inside a camera outfitted with a custom film holder that accepts the film as a three-dimensional object instead of as a standard, flat sheet. The results on the shaped film can...
