"Unicorn": A Serendipitous Convergence of Elements
"Unicorn," a departure from Stefanie Schneider's customary style, captures an extraordinary convergence of elements that transcend mere coincidence. In this artwork from her 2005 series "The Last Picture Show," a horse's eye takes center stage, radiating with an ethereal quality.
The image not only showcases the horse's eye and the delicate white hair that envelops it but also adds an unexpected touch—a horn sprouting from the creature's head, reminiscent of the mythical unicorn. Within the composition, the play of light manifests as glistening gold sparkles, a result of expired film. This interplay of light creates a remarkable effect that might appear beyond mere chance.
The presence of these anomalous sparkles, precisely positioned within the frame, seems to transcend coincidence. Their placement, coupled with the unicorn-like imagery, introduces an almost magical quality to the artwork.
