About

"Studio Flower Project" is a colorful photomontage with a collage of rainbow-organized flowers and fruits hanging in front of a series of artist prints and drawings, all created by the artist. From red peppers to blue cyanotype prints to sprigs of purple lavender, Torrie Groening's scavenger-hunt-worthy collection of whimsical items is sure to delight viewers with its bright disposition. "Studio Flower Project" is in line with Groening's characteristic style of creating layered compositions that make thoughtful use of studio props, sketches, and accumulated materials with concise attention to detail. This photographic work, like many of Groening's works, begins with a large format digital photograph and develops with the additional collaging on of photographs, prints, sketches, and painting—all created by the artist. The result is a multi-linear narrative of unexpected association. Torrie Groening is a Vancouver based artist. She studied printmaking at Emily Carr College of Art + Design and is an alumna of The Banff Centre Visual Arts department. She is a photographer who works with drawing, painting and printmaking. Making use of new and traditional technologies, Groening creates installations and photographs that reflect on a personal investment in the peripheral material of the artists studio. Culling from her own collections, she constructs elaborate still life scenes representative of a multi-linear and often auto-fictive narrative. Listed dimensions reference unframed image size. Pricing refers to unframed image. Prints include artist's signature on the front. Please contact gallery to discuss.
