About the Item
Cottage Sunrise is a color photograph that captures the sun rising across the lake on a summer day. The scene is framed by the double window of the cottage bedroom. Having one of the windows open creates a triptych as the scene is transformed as it is seen first in transmitted light through the (dirty) window, then in muted light as it comes through the screen of the open window, and finally in intense light as it reflects from the open window pane. Printed on archival paper with a matte finish, delivered in an acid-free white matt; image dimensions are 12x15 in. The photograph is included in McKenna’s A Sense of Place portfolio.
Signed, numbered, and matted.
Limited edition of 10.
As a geologist and teacher, Vicki McKenna started taking photographs to illustrate concepts to her students, but soon became intrigued by the challenges of representing a three-dimensional world with an engaging, two-dimensional image. While it is not surprising that McKenna is drawn to photograph the natural landscape, her interests are broad-ranging, and a fascination with architecture means she is also interested in the built environment. McKenna is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
