About the Item

David Studwell, 2Pac-Silver Screen print 48 x 59 cm (18.89 x 23.22 in) Edition of 50 2Pac-Silver celebrates the enduring legacy of hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur. David Studwell renders the rapper’s unmistakable likeness in a striking silver monochrome, layering precision silkscreen printing with a dusting of sparkling diamond dust. The luminous surface amplifies both the defiant charisma and the poignant vulnerability that define 2Pac’s cultural impact—capturing the tension between stardom’s brilliance and the fragility of life, a recurring theme throughout Studwell’s Pop-Art practice. A standout piece for collectors of modern Pop and celebrity portraiture, Studwell’s work bridges the golden age of cinema with today’s luxury art market. David Studwell is a contemporary British printmaker celebrated for bold, nostalgia-infused screenprints that fuse classic Hollywood glamour with modern Pop Art energy. A graduate of Central Saint Martins, Studwell draws on the visual language of mid-20th-century celebrity culture—Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Steve McQueen and other icons—recasting familiar images in striking colour palettes and metallic finishes such as platinum leaf and diamond dust. His practice pays homage to pioneers like Andy Warhol while probing the double-edged nature of fame: the allure and the vulnerability behind the public image. Working primarily in silkscreen on heavyweight Somerset paper, he often collaborates with leading photographers—most notably creating Elton John: Home Run – Dodger Stadium 1975 with the late Terry O’Neill. Studwell’s editions have been exhibited internationally at galleries and art fairs including the Affordable Art Fair London, and are held in prominent private collections worldwide. Collectors of his work include high-profile musicians and fashion figures, underscoring his reputation as a leading voice in contemporary British Pop-inspired art. Related Artists: Andy Warhol, Russell Young, Banksy, Damien Hirst, Mr. Brainwash, Richard Hamilton, Takashi Murakami, Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns.

About Tupac : Tupac Amaru Shakur born Lesane Parish Crooks, June 16, 1971 – September 13, 1996, also known by his stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, was an American rapper and actor. He is widely considered one of the most influential rappers of all time. Shakur is among the best-selling music artists, having sold more than 75 million records worldwide. Much of Shakur's music has been noted for addressing contemporary social issues that plagued inner cities, and he is considered a symbol of activism against inequality. Shakur was born in New York City to parents who were both political activists and Black Panther Party members. Raised by his mother, Afeni Shakur, he relocated to Baltimore in 1984 and to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1988. With the release of his debut album 2Pacalypse Now in 1991, he became a central figure in West Coast hip hop for his conscious rap lyrics. Shakur achieved further critical and commercial success with his follow-up albums Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z... (1993) and Me Against the World (1995) His Diamond certified album All Eyez on Me (1996), the first double-length album in hip-hop history, abandoned his introspective lyrics for volatile gangsta rap. In addition to his music career, Shakur also found considerable success as an actor, with his starring roles in Juice (1992), Poetic Justice...
