Kneeling on the salt flats of the Chalbi Desert in Northern Kenya, this Rendille warrior surveys the path home
In this print series titled Warrior Studies, the young men of the Rendille & Samburu tribes of Kenya wear distinctive ornamentation as a sign of the traditions of warriorhood.
Offered in a limited edition, these works are printed on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta paper, which sets the standard for image definition and color depth. Each print includes an embossed certificate of authenticity and is signed and numbered.
All images are printed in-house on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta paper and come with a Certificate of Authenticity. For your convenience, all images are printed with a 3” paper border; this is not included in the listed sizes.
Drew Doggett is an award-winning photographer, best-selling author, and filmmaker whose work tells the extraordinary stories of diverse cultures, animals, places, and communities through a fashion-inspired lens. His photography appears in more than 25 countries and is in both private and public collections, notably at the Smithsonian African Art Museum, the Four Seasons, the Waldorf Astoria, and many others. He has earned over 130 awards and honors for his images and films, and his work has been published across numerous outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, CNN, Conde Nast Traveler, Architectural Digest, Forbes, Bloomberg, and others. Drew Doggett
Known for a style that's best described as breathtaking, American photographer Drew Doggett captures the actions of horses, wild animals and far-flung peoples in a way that makes the images feel larger than their border can contain. Each shot is so energized with life that the stillness of the photo feels only temporary.
Born in Maryland in 1984, Doggett discovered a passion for photography in high school. He also developed a zeal for travel, accompanying his father — who was an architect —- on many trips all over the world. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University, Doggett's desire to turn his artistic interest into a career brought him to New York City, where he worked as a fashion photography assistant to some of the most notable names in the field, including Annie Leibovitz, Mark Seliger and Steven Klein. These apprentice years brought him face to face with many people of great importance, such as American pop star Madonna, South African Bishop Desmond Tutu and former U.S. President Barack Obama.
Doggett’s life and career took a dramatic turn in 2009, on a photographic expedition to Nepal. He had found the world of fashion photography unfulfilling and decided he needed to pursue other avenues for practicing his art. On one outing during this trip, Doggett and his party found themselves caught in a terrifying snowstorm. The accompanying sherpas kept the group safe and guided them back to safety.
Doggett became inspired to visually tell the stories of Nepalese sherpas and the Humla people of the region. Doggett has since produced volumes of photographic tales depicting the character and beauty of cultures around the world — especially underrepresented peoples of Africa and Asia — as well as countless equestrian, wildlife and landscape images.
Doggett currently lives and works in Charleston, South Carolina, where he continues to plan photographic excursions and pursue visual stories the world over for his camera to tell.

This Himba elder was at a huge funeral gathering in the western Kaokoland between the largest town of the area, Opuwo, and Otjitando. The area was flat, and very dry, with a strong wind constantly whipping up fine, dry dust and flinging it across the landscape.
The funeral was quite different in feel. People were engaged in deep, animated conversations, they smiled and laughed a lot in more of a festival atmosphere than one of sadness. Long parted friends came together to celebrate the life of the man who had passed – a man of huge popularity and social status. The funeral was to last a week and the crowd was swelling each day. There were huge animal carcasses being cooked on fires tended carefully by younger Himba men.
I watched from a distance, concerned at the need for privacy at such a gathering, but a number of groups waved for me to come over. The elder maintained a natural authority within his small circle, and I noticed that others spoke to him with deference. In the past this man had hunted and killed desert lions. He then pointed to a large gouge on the man’s thigh – the results of one of these encounters.
The lower necklace on this man are made of the soft ears of lambs. The small metal spear...
