About the Item

“Working an Angle” Photography 36" x 24" inch Edition of 1/7 by Brian Ziff Giclee (Archival Ink) Print on Canson Platine Fibre Rag Not framed. American Dreams - "Park Drive" series The notion of the American Dream is one that grows continually more confounding and elusive. For Brian Ziff, as a first generation American, the iconography of wealth, leisure and exclusivity has presented itself as an abstraction rather than a tangible, achievable goal. Presented from the vantage point of a viewer very much on the outside looking in, this series depicts Brian’s take on two bastions of post-war American Jetset propaganda—the aspirational sexuality of Hefner’s Playboy Bunny, and the exclusionary opulence of Slim Aarons’ mid-century leisure class. Together, they paint a tantalizing picture—infinitely alluring, and yet perpetually out of reach. American Dreams will be on display from April 11th to April 23rd, by appointment only and scheduled events, at the gallery space on the 36th floor of the Moxy building in downtown LA. Opening reception: Thursday, April 11th at 8pm, entrance through Level 8 at 1260 S Figueroa St. 90015. Brian Ziff is a Los Angeles based photographer and digital artist. Known for creating complex, narrative-rich imagery and combining mediums that draw upon his background in directing, sound design, film scoring and fashion photography, he plies his trade creating album packaging for major musicians, shooting global campaigns, and producing genre bending editorials. His idiosyncratic creative style has seen this work extend to a client list that includes The Weeknd, Halsey, Shawn Mendes, PAPER Magazine, Harper's Bazaar, Playboy, Interview, Numéro, Stella McCartney, Puma, L'Oréal and others.
