This photograph of Marilyn Monroe was shot by photographer, George Barris, in 1962 on Santa Monica Beach in California. This photograph is from a collection entitled "The Last Photos", which is a series of images of Marilyn Monroe that are considered the last photos ever taken of the icon, just two weeks before her death in 1962.
This piece is numbered from the edition of 99 plus Artist Proofs and bears the Edward Weston Collection copyright stamp on the back of the photograph. It is hand signed by the artist on the front of the image.

George Barris was born on June 14th, 1922, in Manhattan, New York City. When his brother bought him a box camera for his sixth birthday, he began a lifelong love affair with photography. In addition to his timeless work with Marilyn Monroe, Barris has captured unforgettable images of icons like Steve McQueen, Charlie Chaplin, Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, John Wayne, Clark Gable and Elizabeth Taylor.
