Hugh Turvey is a British artist and photographer who uses x-ray technology to create what he calls Xograms, a fusion of visible light and x-ray imagery.
He trained as a designer / art director but on discovering photography he retrained under iconic photographer Gered Mankowitz. During 1996/1997 he started experimenting with x-ray/shadow photography after being asked to create an alternative ‘revealing’ image for an album cover. With the encouragement of the Science Photo Library he went on to produce an extensive series of coloured x-rays of everyday objects, which were first published on the 4 April 1999 in The Observer Magazine, LIFE, UK. In the same year Credit Suisse discovered Hughs x-ray vision and commissioned 6 ground breaking ‘motion x-ray’ European TV commercials.

Hugh Turvey
Hugh Turvey is a British artist and photographer who uses X-ray technology to create what he calls Xograms, a fusion of visible light and X-ray imagery. Turvey trained as a designer/art director but on discovering photography, he trained under iconic photographer Gered Mankowitz. Developed in the late 1960’s Diasec® was the first system that allowed photographs to be bonded directly and permanently to acrylic sheet. Diasec® panels are backed with pure aluminium sheet, reinforcing the rigidity of the finished panel. Giving a beautiful profile when viewed from the side. The aluminium back also enables us to attach one of our bespoke pure aluminium sub-frames that allows the artwork to hang on the wall without a traditional picture frame

His work complements some of the most dynamic of interiors worldwide and his work has been exhibited and collected internationally. He lives and works in London.
