About the Item

The photographs in Nest are about a primal need to create a home wherever we are. In San Francisco, there are pockets of nature where people and animals seek refuge. Belcher is attracted to wild places, particularly the caves and nests that appear in the overgrown areas of Golden Gate Park. It’s often difficult to tell if these caves formed naturally or if someone intentionally carved out a space. A beam of sunlight, a gap in the foliage or the curve of a tree trunk might draw her in. But she rarely ventures past the entrance. Nest 0251 from Golden Gate Park is one in an edition of 10 archival pigment prints. Each one is signed and numbered by the artist. Each print is professionally framed in a museum quality ebonized hardwood frame with archival matting. The print size is 16 1/2 x 11 and with framing the outer edge is 19 x 13 inches. Beautiful hanging in its own or in a pair or collection of prints.

By John Casado

Unique Lith Silver Gelatin Print. Signed and dated verso by John Casado. “One indication that we have entered a new era of creativity is the photographs of John Casado. His nudes reveal new attitudes and visions that stamp him firmly as an artist who differs from his predecessors of the past 170 years. In the past two centuries, the nude has evolved slowly, but there is now a decided change.” David...

Helechos Jardines de Sucumbíos, Pigment Prints
By Miguel Winograd
Located in Miami Beach, FL
The artist looks for a path between tangled branches. Reconfiguring a personal archive of diverse Colombian landscapes, experimenting with a variety of printing materials to reconstruct a whole from these fragments, recreating a forest in the center of Bogotá. Wynograd also examines a historical archive of landscapes, the roots of his own vision. He believes that the old mimetic dream of photography is still alive. These exercises aim to weave a series of visual connections and reflect on the complex web of interdependencies between humans and nature. If there is a light of hope in the midst of overlapping crises, it is the awareness that we all belong to a whole. Perhaps these images can help in that reflection. Miguel Winograd...
