About the Item

Claire Clarkson's "Vase of Flowers Orange" After Jan Davidsz. de Heem is from a series of photographs exploring the replication of the cyanotype photographic process through modern technologies. Her works often contrast each other, dealing both with nature and man-made hard edge architecture. Often focusing on the details, here work notices both the whole as well as what makes up the whole in its various parts all in one glance. Photograph mounted to gallery plexi clear 1/8" acrylic with white Sintra backing and and an aluminum brace. Edition of 50.

'Orange Tulips' - still life - floral, botanical, naturalism, bright colors
Located in Atlanta, GA
This painting features hues of purple, orange and green. Chattanooga-based artist Christina Renfer Vogel’s “Turning Towards the Sun” features paintings that reflect an intentional turn towards beauty in the face of the tension & uncertainty of recent years. Through nourishing periods of focused observation, she has allowed herself to delight in jubilant color, playful pattern & sensual gesture. Her works delight in the delicate unfurling of a tender leaf & the gentle turn towards an open window, as flowers seek warmth & stretch towards sunlight in the space of a painting session. “Bringing plants...

''Bouquet of Roses'', Contemporary Still Life with Roses in a Orange Vase
By Sasja Wagenaar
Located in Utrecht, NL
When you look at this painting ''Bouquet of Roses'' by Dutch artist Sasja Wagenaar (1959) from a distance you see a perfectly painted image, but up close a generous paint streak is visible. She has a unique way of applying shadow and light effects in her paintings. Sasja Wagenaar is inspired by our classic masters from the seventeenth century, a flourishing period in Dutch painting. The century in which new continents, markets and arts were discovered. At that time in the Netherlands it was a real fad to collect chinoiserie. Originally porcelain, but also Dutch pottery, also known as Delft blue, inspired by Chinese and especially by Japanese bowls and vases. To quote Sasja Wagenaar: ‘Every platter, every bowl is already so much in itself. They were made with great care through hundreds of hands before they ended up here. Their character must be respected in composing the story that forms a still life. They are as alive as the blossom branches and I try to let them speak together. Slowly the image is created’. Although rooted in the 17th century Dutch tradition, her work shows her very own signature and is contemporary. As a true Modern Dutch Master...
