Michael Massaia
Michael Massaia is a fine art photographer and printmaker who has spent the past 10 years documenting areas and objects that never extend too far from his front door. Isolation, disconnection and an attempt to put a spotlight on the ordinary are the constants in all of his work. Massaia focuses primarily on large format black-and-white film, utilizing a variety of highly modified proprietary analog and digital printing techniques. Massaia works alone and is the sole craftsman from the instant the negative is exposed to the moment the final print is made.

- Burnt Place #3Located in London, GBBurnt Place 03 - After the fire swept through, the forest was left scorched and barren. The ground is still warm and the unstirring air is thick with the scent of charred wood. Scorched, lifeless pines stand solemn and mournful in the shadows of the Burnt Place. About the Twilight's Path project: "We spend our lives surrounded by the security of possessions, relationships and roles, but our futures hold nothing so substantial; one day we must all enter into true not- knowing - into a dark, unconscious place."
