2020

About the Item

As with most of Mitchell Funk's street photography, his images are the opposite of sloppy shoot and grab. He brings the compositional exactitude of studio photography outdoors. In "Chrysler Building Art Deco in Minimalist Composition" Funk framed the 1930's Art Deco icon with an adjacent building. He waits for a perfectly cloudless blue sky and directional light and the result is more than just a document of the Chrysler Building. It's a minimalist composition in blue and yellow. Signed, dated and numbered 2/15 lower right, unframed, printed later on Hahnemuhle Baryta Fne Art Paper. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum.
