In still photography as well as cinematography, visual artists were rarely using dramatic lighting in 1975. Mitchell Funk is a pioneering vision of light and design. His body of work for 50 years has continuously employed styles and techniques that decades ago were absent from the visual lexicon but today are the rage.

Mitchell Funk participated in the first color photography show at any major American Museum. "Images en Couleur " Brooklyn Museum 1970. In the 1970's and 1980 he had more than 50 photography magazine covers. He did covers for Life Magazine and Fortune Magazine as well
