About the Item
This luminous photograph is of the Sheep Meadow which is a vast 15-acre verdant field in Central Park. It's enjoyed by sunbathers, frisbee throwers and fun-seekers who physically get out of the concrete jungle while looking at it. In particular, are the newly constructed monoliths on Billionaires' Row. It's one of the world's most unique spots and the contrast of horizontal green and vertical gray is artfully documented by veteran New York photographer Mitchell Funk. Since 1969, Funk has been capturing how light strikes form in Gotham. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one of the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur" . 1971 Included he was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time Life. Color ! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum. He has had more than 50 Photography Magazine Covers and has had covers on Newsweek, Fortune, New York Magazine and Life Magazine among others - Signed dated and numbered 2/15 lower right recto, other sizes available, unframed. Mitchell Funk
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.

Artist Commentary:
As a child I never spent much time exploring central park. It has now become one of my favorite places to spend time while in New York. On this evening I was visiting a friend and casually strolling the path circling the reservoir. We slowly started to realize that there was a lot of action in the sky and that we might be in for a colorful sunset. This resulted in a mad dash to the north eastern corner of the reservoir to be in the correct spot to catch sunrise and the buildings. Luckily we made it in time to catch the amazing colors.
