About the Item
This is a classic image of the Staten Island Ferry in New York Harbor bathed in Golden light with the Statue of Liberty in semi-silhouette. The image was shot over 50 years ago but somehow looks fresh and contemporary. Enter Mitchell Funk's light-filled world. He is a pioneer of light and color. While the graphic nature and vibrant colors of this image are visually pleasing today, in 1970 this was a radical use of the nascent color photography medium. The image is more about minimalism and broad swatches of flat color than about capturing a familiar New York scene.
The print is signed, dated, and numbered with an edition of 3/15. It's signed lower right recto. Other sizes are available. It's unframed. and printed later. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper
