Stefanie Schneider’s work is about the quiet moments that slip through the cracks of everyday life. It’s not polished, it’s not perfect — it’s raw and fragile, like memory itself. She uses old Polaroid film that’s already breaking down, so the images carry the marks of time, decay, and chance. This isn’t a flaw; it’s a deliberate choice. The imperfections make the photos feel alive, like they’re breathing with history and emotion.
Her subjects — often people in simple, isolated scenes — aren’t posed for glamour or drama. They’re caught in between action and stillness, somewhere between presence and absence. It’s like looking through a window into a world that’s both familiar and strange, where everyday reality blends with fleeting dreams.
Her art asks you to slow down and accept imperfection as normal, even beautiful. It holds up a mirror to the way life really is — messy, uncertain, full of loss but also stubborn hope. In a world rushing forward, Schneider’s photos remind us that there’s value in pause, in the broken, in the half-remembered.

Her work has been shown at the Museum for Photography, Braunschweig, Museum für Kommunikation, Berlin, the Institut für Neue Medien, Frankfurt, the Nassauischer Kunstverein, Wiesbaden, Kunstverein Bielefeld, Museum für Moderne Kunst Passau, Les Rencontres d'Arles, Foto -Triennale Esslingen.
