Susan Isaacson
The Color of Water #2

2018

About the Item

THE COLOR OF WATER Lake Michigan blue sits at the pastel confluence of green, grey and cyan on the nearby shoreline. In truth, the color of the lake is as transitory as Chicago weather. The shade of blue is widely determined by the reflection of the sky above and the organic material and sediment carried below. I recently learned that invasive mussel species have slowly transformed the lake from green to bluer over the past two decades. I often return to the water’s edge to document the color of a given day. Susan Isaacson is a photographic artist exploring themes of time, memory, and the emotional topography of life transitions. She is drawn to the natural landscape as a means to connect to and represent her inner world. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the U.S. and internationally, including: Center for Fine Art Photography (CO), Center for Photographic Arts (CA), Silver Eye Photography Center (PA), SE Center For Photography (SC), Photoplace Gallery (VT), A. Smith Gallery (TX), Koehnline Museum (IL), Chicago Botanic Gardens (IL), FotoNostrum Gallery (Spain) and Perspective Gallery (IL) where she is a represented artist. Isaacson's work has been featured in Black + White Photography Magazine (UK), Shots Magazine, NewCity Art and Lenscratch. Her series, We Share The Same Breath, was selected as a 2023 Critical Mass Top 200 Finalist. Isaacson has studios in Chicago IL and Laguna Beach, CA.
